In the back area of Bolsa Chica near the beanfield bordering the suburban housing tracts there's been a flock of Western Meadowlarks that descend on the fields in the late morning. Before that, though, they get some sun. Here's one of them, preening and then taking off, seen in the following 2 photos. Taken January 7, 2009.
