Early-morning sun on the roosting trees from Garst Road on the way to Red Hill Marina.
Rock Hill and American Avocets from Garst Road.
A White Pelican in breeding plumage (notice the breeding "horn" on its bill) in early-morning light.
The Salton Sea is a fascinating mixture of industry and nature co-existing. Here's one of the thermal power plants on the south end of the Sea, along with scads of (mostly) gulls.
A Female Great-tailed Grackle. I'm not a big fan of these birds, so it was appropriate that I'd catch it in a settting of concrete and rebar. :o)
The starkly-beautiful Salton Sea landscape.
A Peregrine Falcon homes-in on an unsuspecting shorebird. It's perched on a dead tree near the northern end of Lack Road.
The scene at the Salton Sea Recreation Area near the north end of the Sea. This was taken during the late-February 2009 trip, when a strong winter storm brought the snow down to an unusually low level, adding to the beauty of the desert landscape.
