Steve Wolfe > The view of Bodie from Wood St looking west towards the schoolhouse. The brick structure is the HydroElectric building and substation built in 1892. Bodie.com says an interesting fact is that the lines were run 13 miles from the mill to the power plant at Green Creek "in a straight line! At the time, engineers were afraid that the lines would not be able to turn sharp corners and that it would 'jump out of the line and into the ground' ".
Steve Wolfe > Even Bodie's outhouses are of historical interest...but no, I didn't, er, "go" inside. :o)
Steve Wolfe > Here again is one of the many residence interiors.  A quote from Bodie.com--"The town was abandoned so abruptly, that thousands and thousands of artifacts were simply left behind because they were too heavy, or too much to haul from one place to another."
